Skincare Across the Ages: From Nivea to Niacinamide

There I was, shivering my way back home after dropping my little one off at school. The cold wind bit at my cheeks, making me wish I'd layered on more than just a thin coat of moisturizer. As I hurried along, I overheard two teenage girls animatedly discussing their skincare regimes. Words like "hyaluronic acid," "niacinamide," and "double cleansing" flew around with the same ease as if they were talking about their favorite Netflix shows. I couldn’t help but smile and drift back to my own teenage years—a time when my skincare routine consisted of splashing some cold water on my face and hoping for the best. Back then, the closest thing I had to a skincare regime was occasionally swiping some of my mom’s Nivea cream when the winter winds made my cheeks as chapped as a pair of old leather shoes. It was a simpler time. There were no multi-step processes, no serums, and certainly no influencer-endorsed products. The height of sophistication was knowing w...

A Day of Inspiration: My Visit to the NSW Art Museum

Nestled in the heart of New South Wales, the art museum stands as a testament to the power of creativity and culture. My recent visit to this iconic institution was a journey through time and imagination, offering an experience that was both enriching and inspiring. As I walked through the grand entrance, the first thing that struck me was the architectural brilliance of the building itself. The blend of classic and modern design elements created a welcoming yet awe-inspiring atmosphere. The high ceilings and spacious galleries provided the perfect backdrop for the stunning array of artworks on display. The museum's collection is a harmonious blend of the old and the new, featuring everything from classical masterpieces to contemporary creations. Each gallery had its own unique charm, drawing me into different eras and artistic movements. The delicate brushstrokes of the Renaissance paintings contrasted beautifully with the bold and provocative modern pieces, creating a dynamic an...

What matters - Quality or Client Communication?

Communication is a medium of interaction between any two bodies. This is no new science I am talking of. The role it plays is almost vital than necessary in any customer centric operation. You create magic in bringing a lot more business when a positive impact is created with the customer while interacting with them. On the other side you may end up losing a long lasting engagement due to poor communication abilities. Having said all that I recollect a recent dialogue between a wedding bride and her beautician for the day to describe the importance of handling your clients. No matter what quality you deliver, what matters most is the way you handle them. Bride: Aunty, can you please set right this bun to be a little tighter so that I need not meddle with it while attending to the guests this evening.. Beautician: Yes, I know that. It will be taken care of. [She flatly responded]. Bride: I am wondering if the shades of bright red lip gloss applied now is going well with the snuff...

Traffic Masti.

Traffic masti! There were days when people asked about the "weather" when we meet in the mornings maybe at the lounge or while walking up the stairs or say while making hot coffee up there in the pantry. Now the subject seem to have moved to "Bangalore Traffic". I walk into the office premise, the security man asks "madam, aaj itna late.. Traffic zyaada kya?"["Madam, you're late today. Was the traffic so bad?"]. I give him a nod and a sheepish smile sticks to my face. Next a colleague greets with a sweaty hand and says " Oh pathetic roads and damn the growing traffic." Remember, I have the smile still stuck to my face. Hence only exchange of morning greetings continue. I read this somewhere. Man1: Sir , I guess you have a Honda City. Man2: Yes thats right I have the super class car but no roads to drive on. Man1 and Man2 : ***Smiles*** That is so true!!! There have been too many cartoon strips on Bangalore traffic. Each...

Restaurant vists-cum-adventures in the last few weeks.

Me, a sub-unit of this well known Silicon-World called MNC’s, working in one of the IT giants located in a major business hub in Bangalore, its plain and simple to go munch on a well-spread-buffet in a nearby restaurant as often as it may be. If there is to be a definition to the frequency of such kinds of visits then probably a random algorithm best fits in. No specific day, no specific reason, we are hungry - we head out to the nearest eat-out. It’s not that easy as it sounds. For those specific hygiene freaks, the options nail down to a very few restaurants that stand up to their standards, but for the happy-go-lucky-ones like me even a golgoppa wala[Indian Street chats] on the road would be more than fine to substitute a light meal. There is a Cafeteria stationed in almost every premise but hell with their quaality of food and their high rates. Who would want to eat the dry-tasteless Rotis [Indian breads] with “Yelloooooooooooooooooooooow” Dal [I am exaggerating for sur...

A general Rant and lot of following up.

Its been a long time escape from my blog. MIA mainly because of the technical glitches. Okay now to get to the fact lets see whats happening on my side of the world that I have to share. I've been busy with home, work and other miscellaneous activities. A lot of shopping, a lot of cooking, and some time spent on painting - Time is just wading away. With Nagpanchami marking the start on the festivals in India have been busy with a lot of fun filled activities. Some highlights to mention from the missing period: 1. Participation in Painting competition in Office and winning of course. Here is a glimpse of what I painted. 2. Participating in pookalam(Rangoli with Flowers) for the Onam celebrations - A team effort shown below. Bad luck as this did not win the prize though got a special mention by a lot of co-workers.:( At home have been cooking and baking a lot of things. You can visit my food blog for some updates. I have not forgotten my other hobbies - pho...

3 cups of Coffee and 3 budding Photographers!!

That describes all the fun "we" had at Wayanad. Here Wayanad I come again. It was Unplanned, not forseen, a never-dreamt of event.A friend DB had made a vague reservation at a wild resort in Wayanad - "Coffe Acres". I shall not forget to mention that it was YD's elaborate research on the resorts that really helped. Yo!! 3 Cheers. She will be the official research specialist henceforth when we plan a trip. You hearing?  A couple from chennai(DB & DK),a couple from Hyderabad(MB & RJ) and a couple from Bangalore(AN & SV) + YD consititue "We". DB & DK reached Bangalore early Saturday morning. The Chennai mail got them here by 5. As always the religious, loyal and reliable Indian railways, one of the trains had to be late. This time it was the one from Hyderabad. The train was delayed by an hour. The always lazy YD, had taken the initiative this time to make this trip possible. All of us needed this well deserved break from the sti...

A journey from horoscope to horrorscope.

The title suggests something fishy. Don't panic. On a lighter sense I put that up based on the suggestion from the team in office. Let me dwell a little more deeper on the subject I am going to write in here. Every company/organization has an appraisal process. What's new about it - you may brag. The story goes this way. A resource joins a company , performs his duty sincerely, does not have any escalations in his/her name for the entire year, fulfills all the policies and norms of the company and now on the day of the appraisal talks - he/she is curious to know his/her results from the mouth of his/her superior. He/she is satisfied with the grades/ranking provided. Don't get me wrong when I say Grades/ranking it does not mean the designation. I am referring to the points - its going to be on a scale of 1 to 5 or something similar. Okay now, after all the management decisions, budget available, the bell-curve analysis and a HR drill for about a couple weeks comes "...

@ the Dental Clinic.

Couple of weeks ago I drank some cold cola and felt a nerve killing sensation in one of my left upper molar teeth. Had been neglecting this dental condition for quite some time and I could not resist it anymore. So I decided walking upto the dental clinic nearby which I often visited while I underwent the RCT[For those who don't know what an RCT is - Its root canal treatment. They drill into your decayed tooth , fill it with a binding cement and in some cases place a cap of silver or gold or enamel.] The dentist there, gets her job done very smoothly and before you could realize she is finished with her job of cleansing, drilling, filling and polishing. That particular day, doctor was already attending a patient and there was another lady waiting in the queue. I chose to sit near the entrance next to a pile of books. I picked one and started enhancing my knowledge on oral hygiene. A kid walked in with its mother. I pushed myself to the corner providing him some space to sit. He ...

Night Sky Thoughts.

Low, Down and Beneath Is what you have bequeathed Why,who, when and what I question - Why they're still on my cart Night and brighter shine Heart with dreams of mine Sky floats a super moon I request - Can you grant my single boon Hope can make one strong Hope can bring the lost Hope is all that I long I need - Hope at any cost. As I sit by the window of my drawing room watching the night sky with a super moon these lines are what that took shape in my tiny brain. I have captured the moon. Will defintely post the picture soon. And here is the snap I was talking about. Have a wonderful sunday!

Don2 Dhamaka..

Oh oh oh!! Let me get it right guys. Am not here to provide a review of the film.I guess a lot of that has already been posted on various blogs. I have reason to title up the post this way. Read on.. It was the last week of December. Cold chilly weather in Bangalore. Temperatures hitting the minimums of the year and there we were the "Ideal 5"[My sis, Dad, Neighbour uncle ,his daughter and of course me] plan up something crazy again. [Read midnight coffee so that you get what crazyness am talking about here.] After a rocking sunday Biriyani[Yes yes, veggie only] dinner at home, we charted out the possible shows of Don2 running in the theaters within a radius of 10km from our homes. And yes we have a pretty new multiplex nearby and luck in our favour - Local newspaper highlighted 4 shows everyday. Sis and Myself were free from work hassles for the entire week that followed, showed thumbs up for any available time. However Uncle, dad and our good friend had to make it to...
