Forest adventure - Short story.

Tom, Sam and Lily were best friends who loved to explore new places. One day, they decided to go on an adventure in the forest near their town. They packed some snacks, water bottles, a flashlight and a map, and set off on their bikes. They rode for a while until they reached the edge of the forest. They locked their bikes to a tree and entered the forest, following a trail that they had marked on their map. They wanted to see if they could find a waterfall that they had heard about from their teacher. The forest was full of sounds and sights that fascinated them. They saw birds, squirrels, rabbits and even a deer. They heard the rustling of leaves, the chirping of crickets and the occasional roar of a distant animal. They felt the cool breeze, the warm sun and the soft ground under their feet. They walked for a long time, but they did not mind. They were having fun, talking, laughing and singing. They stopped every now and then to eat some snacks, drink some water and rest. They also ...

Weekend eat out!

Saturday evening it was. My sis had mentioned a new European Cuisine outlet about a kilometer distance from our place. We had plans of visiting this restaurant a week before but had to forego the plan for the "Pizza hut" demands :) Okay this saturday the trio - Sis , me and my cousin gave it quits to the food prepared at home and headed for the munching at the Euro-Restaurant. Dont ask me about the experience. It was an unpleasant one. I dont want to comment any further. But I cant let go my furious self otherwise. The reastaurant looked quite spacious [We later noticed it was not spacious but empty except for a few college buddies hanging out in a corner]. We were talking about the feeling of an isolated area only to be startled by the waiter's soft voice who placed the menu cards on the table and left us to decide on our choice of platter. [he kind of forgot about us until we reminded him of our existence with a waving hand] Bruschetta - totally italian for a starter wa...

Tantrums of logging on.

It was a normal day when I was doing my usual work at office. A known tune started ringing on my cell phone. Without even checking the number/name flashing on the phone I knew it was from home - [Ring tone is set to the song " masakkali masakkali "] Dad on the other end wanted step by step procedure to logon to my laptop and then he needed to logon to gmail. We've (Sis and me)been telling him to learn this bit from quite some time now. Not that he is unaware of the keys,he does have first hand experience working with Url's and other computer basics while he was in his tenure. But this techie stuff is something that doesn't get onto his heads now at this age within a go. I proudly admire his attempt to learn and excel it. Now, it was a day when sis was still in Australia and Dad wanted to catch her online. Why now? Can we do it tomorrow .- Asked I. No we have some relatives at home, so it would be nice if we can get her online now - came the respone. ( Some relati...

Movie maniacs!

Can anyone beat the Movie-4 challenge ? This was a target set by my cousin and myself long ago. Years have rolled by but we illustrate this achievement of ours very proudly whenever someone says he/she has just comeout from a movie marathon. How did this all start ? Well when I entered my 10th standard - board exams around the corner, there was a kannada movie of this hero named Ramesh Arvind - the then super hero of industry. It was " Antargami " - a story about a girl and her psychological illness. I am not sure why did I ever make it to that movie inspite of my preparatory exams falling the upcoming week. Cousin, her mom(Aunt) and myself had ended up there on a saturday matinee show. Mom had not watched the movie in which my cousin had acted and so she walked into the neighboring theatre where the show was on.The shows ended at around 1:15pm I guess and we still had time to make it for the classique - " Dil toh pagal hai ". This was our actual movie plan. But ...

Sister Sleep Tale!

What? When we were growing up, a vacation for us really meant spending the summers at our grand mom's place. Cousins of our age housed up this calmly standing home which is about a 100 years old now. Mornings were spent wisely on all the activities which helped granny in completing her household work at the same time giving all we kids the pleasure of playing the games in a competitive spirit. Calling the end of day only meant in aspiring another tomorrow so that we could prove ourselves better and outshine others in one of those routine games played. By night every muscle would be tired to its 200th % and would crave for some unknown rest at that age. There lies the king size bedding on the floor with a huge blanket to hold us all together in one room. One such night our maternal uncle was home catching up all the missed gossips. Sharing laughter and giggles with him was his entire sibling lady crew. Sis and myself woke up in between on hearing the constant hushes and the short ca...

RiceaayaNa

Why is the title named so? Little bit of rambling into the below piece of writing helps you know more. . . Mom,dad and aunt were on a 3 day schedule of visiting relatives. Saturday afternoon - already headed to attend a house warming ceremony at Shimoga - a town about 6 and odd hours travel distance away on road from the Busy Bangalore. The weekend of Sankranti was so gloomy altogether, everone at home had flu and it had got onto us with a weirdest symptom I could think of. No nostrils blocking ,no head ache but kept everyone busy with the sneezing act. Amidst all this,Sis and me tried to keep the kitchen routine going on as usual for the next 2 days making sure we have things right when the real time owners of the Kitchen return. Sundays are usually the relaxing morning we have but this was an exception. My sweet saturday night had already gone for a toss. Guessing why? It was the water-day (hmm rather water night). Our locality has gotten into this odd hours for water schedules. Than...

To College on my Hayabusa!

Finally the struggle of a couple of hundered days ended on this BIG day. Happiness knew no bounds when the correspondent on the other end keying in some information into the computer announced that I have the seat confirmed for R V college of Engineering , stream - Instrumentation Technology. Dad heaved a sigh of relief. 10 years wind up since this incident, but the pain of courseware and the frightening entrance exam still leaves me with horrifying night dreams. With the admission process coming to an end, I was tagged as RV'ite (All students of RV college are better known so). First day in college is the day that will remain in memory forever Oct 3rd 2000 - Prof M.R Holla addressing the fresh cream from the millenium batch (seated in the huge auditorium -basically the basket ball court). His words were definitely mightier and sharper than the sword. No kidding here. The power in his voice shaked everyone present there and left a thinking cap on each head. Leaving the serious no...
