A cry not heard!

Ray of light
far from sight
All his need
is a caring feed

A place to sleep,
a blanket to keep -
the despodent waif
Warm and safe

Cruel men see
the poor one plead,
Emptiness filled hearts
hesitant to share a part.

On the pavement's corner sits
this lad a bit.
Weak and pale
telling his tale

None hear
Do they feign fear?
Hoping - is all he could do
for some fresh hot stew

Every passer-by
down the lane
Ignore this guy
and all his pain

Why is this scene not wiping off my brain
Serene it Remains
Revives time and again
As I sit by the window of the train.

Sometimes, I cannot get rid of such images myself. And then I wonder, why didn't I do something? What could I've done to help?

@Insignia : Very distrubing at times are these scenes of life.

@Rachna: Even if you help one what about the rest of similar plight. It is never to end. "Try doing the bit that is possible" - what I've been following.

@ Jagdish Bali : Thanks a lot.

@ Raghu: Glad you liked it and thanks for visiting.

@Kavita : Thank you!

@ Irfan - Yep reason unknown as well as the path's unknown. We live between them not able to do anything but pity their plight.

Very interesting and few words saying a lot. I absolutely love this paragraph, 'None hear Do they feign fear? Hoping - is all he could do for some fresh hot stew'

In the mad rush of life today we are insensitive to the needs of the countless destitutes who cannot even afford a one-time meal. This is the huge divide we choose to ignore
